Netflix Chooses Spot-On Actor for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The platform declared this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. This character has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve touched with their main hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a version of that character reimagined as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and anime.

The new cast member is joined by a number of fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to reality, featuring head the main antagonist, portrayed by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.

Although the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate further changes to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
