Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Problems.
'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.
Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the ground on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.
The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over during the morning session.
Team management stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "during the day".
The concluding match of the tour at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.
England have previously lost strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.
Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just a handful of scalps.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.
Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman being one of only three England players to get into double digits.
Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
However, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt his left hamstring.
The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test following his omission of the third.
